Scott Simser is a Senior Litigation Lawyer at Achkar Law with over 25 years of experience in Charter law, human rights law, tax law, and employment law. He got his start litigating weekly in the Tax Court of Canada for a year, fresh from his call to the bar, and has since built a practice spanning employment litigation, judicial review, and appeals.

Scott has litigated at all levels of court in Canada. He has argued ground-breaking constitutional and Charter cases that have been cited extensively with approval in the Federal Court of Canada, and has had a bankruptcy case cited by the Supreme Court of Canada.

With an MBA and an undergraduate degree in business administration, Scott understands the commercial realities behind a dispute, not only the legal ones, and focuses on clear strategy and outcomes that fit the client’s broader objectives.

Outside his practice, Scott volunteers extensively with non-profit organizations that serve persons with disabilities. In his free time he enjoys travelling, especially in Europe, swimming in freshwater lakes in the summer, and cross-country skiing in the winter.
