Charles Millar is a Partner with Achkar Law focusing on litigation and dispute resolution. He has represented employees and employers in challenging employment, labour, human rights, procedural and administrative matters in the public and private sectors.
Charles’ experience and passion for employment law began during his undergraduate studies when he would spend his summers working for a human resources and recruitment firm. Charles stoked this passion throughout law school, working in litigation boutiques, legal clinics, and acting as a research assistant to his law school professors. During his articling term, Charles worked for a renowned firm focusing on litigation and employment disputes; assisting with negotiations, mediations, and trials before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice and the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario. The foundation of Charles’ approach comes from understanding the motivations of people and working collaboratively with them.
Prior to his career in law, Charles worked as a research psychologist where he led a team to discover intrinsic elements guiding people’s decision-making – leading to several publications and a feature in the Atlantic. Charles received his Juris doctorate from the University of Toronto, Faculty of Law. Charles also holds a Masters of Applied Psychology from the University of Waterloo and a Honours Bachelor of Science with High Distinction from the University of Toronto.
In his free time, Charles is an avid reader and enjoys kayaking, hiking, and spending time with family and friends.
