Law Clerk
Jemma Paynter is a Law Clerk at Achkar Law who supports the firm’s litigation practice across employment and workplace disputes, working alongside our lawyers to move files forward from intake to resolution.
A litigation clerk by focus, Jemma is involved at every procedural stage: investigating the facts early, conducting legal research, drafting and organizing pleadings and productions, preparing affidavits of documents, and getting parties and witnesses ready for examinations for discovery, mediations, and arbitrations. She keeps timelines, evidence, and case strategy aligned so nothing slips between steps.
Originally from Northern Ireland, Jemma completed the Federation of Law Societies of Canada’s National Accreditation Program to have her international qualifications recognized here. With more than 14 years of combined legal experience across Canada, Ireland, and the United Kingdom, she brings a well-rounded perspective to complex, multi-stage files.
Her focus is making sure files are thorough, deadlines are met, and clients feel supported and informed as their matter moves through the litigation process.
Outside the office, Jemma enjoys travelling, exploring new places, and getting home to Northern Ireland to visit family and enjoy a few favourite home comforts.
